Weatherford Canada is currently looking for an Operations Controller to join our team in Calgary, AB.

The successful candidate will be required to provide management information and analytical support to the Regional Business Unit Managers and to coordinate the activities of the relevant accounting groups to ensure that internal and external financial reporting is effective, timely and accurate; that corporate assets are safeguarded; and that US GAAP and SOX requirements are appropriately complied with.
Other responsibilities include:

  •     Manage the Accounting Groups and provide leadership, assistance and day-to-day coordination and guidance
  •     Maintain a business partner relationship with operations to provide financial guidance and assistance
  •     Annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  •     Monthly variance reports
  •     Preparation of Annual Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts for various product lines
  •     Effective internal control practices and divisions of responsibility
  •     Accurate product costing and minimal net manufacturing variances
  •     Ensure maintenance of appropriate accounting systems, procedures and controls to monitor operational performance and safeguard the division's assets
  •     Review operations for compliance with GAAP, SOX and Grant of Authority requirements
  •     Coordination and preparation and/or review of monthly management financial statements
  •     Review monthly financial statements and results for the division with operations personnel
  •     Review journal entries, accounts receivable aging, account reconciliation's
  •     Review capital transactions and reconciliation's
  •     Ensure balance sheet support is proper and provided
  •     Coordinate and prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budget for these product lines
  •     Review and preparation of Capital AFE requests
  •     Liaise with internal and external auditors as required
  •     Provide leadership to and participate in special projects (e.g. software updates or conversions)
  •     Significant volume of adhoc requests as required.


SKILLS

  •     Professional accounting designation (must have CGA, CMA or CA)
  •     Minimum of 8 - 10 years of progressively senior accounting experience
  •     Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills
  •     Significant experience with Canadian Oil & Gas Industry, preferably service sector
  •     JDE (or similar large ERP system), SAP and Hyperion experience is an asset
  •     Good written and verbal communication skills
  •     Proven ability to lead, coach and develop staff
  •     Motivated self starter
  •     Able to travel (1 week/month)
  •     Valid drivers license and clean abstract required
