Engineered Chemistry, a division of Weatherford is a recognized industry leader in the design, manufacturing and deployment of oilfield products aiding in oil and gas production worldwide. We are currently seeking an Accounting Analyst to be based in Nisku or Edmonton, AB.

While adhering to standard safety and quality operational policies and procedures, the primary responsibilities include:

  •     Financial Reporting and Analysis
  •     Validate coding and amounts reported in the JD Edwards general ledger
  •     Accrue expenditures and prepare appropriate JE entries
  •     Assist with preparation of forecast and budget information
  •     Enter forecast and budget information into Hyperion
  •     Variance analysis to forecast, budget and actuals
  •     Provide assistance as required on periodic physical inventory counts, understand concept of cycle counting
  •     Fixed Assets (AFE):
  •         Monitor the progress of the big ticketed AFEs.  Coordinated with Project managers as to the quarterly spend and forecasts.
  •         Oversee AFE Spend.  Prepare monthly entries to move amounts from CIP (Construction in Progress) to Fixed Assets or to re-class or capitalize.
  •     Internal operations:
  •         Work with the Branch Controller to identify business trends and issues that require monitoring as well as suggestions for improvement
  •         Monitor and analyze operating costs, identify potential area of improvement
  •     Assist with preparation of standard operational reports
  •     Participate in continuous improvement activities
  •     Generate ad hoc reports as required
  •     Monitor procedure conformance
  •     Provide information requested by internal and external auditors. Provide input and assist with implementing process and system improvement changes
  •     Other duties as assigned


  •     Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Accounting, Finance or Business required
  •     Working towards an accounting designation (CGA,CMA or CA) would be considered an asset
  •     3-5 years progressive experience in the public sector in a computerized accounting environment in a similar role
  •     Previous Chemical or Oil & Gas experience preferred
  •     Proven advanced Microsoft Office suite skills required
  •     Experience with JD Edwards "One World" software preferred, Hyperion and other reporting systems an asset
  •     Willing to learn new software
  •     Proactive with ability to prioritize
  •     Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with all levels of contacts inside and outside the organization
  •     Detail oriented with the ability to multi task and meet strict deadlines
  •     Good communication skills both verbal & written
  •     Successful completion of a pre-employment Medical, Drug & Alcohol test
  •     Valid drivers license and clean abstract
