The Background
I am recruiting for a Software Engineer to join one of the UK’s leading defence companies on a contract basis in Portsmouth. This role will involve working on fast paced prototype programmes related to major platform contracts.
The Role
As a Software Engineer you will:
• Develop interface software and target hardware between systems to bridge the gap created by delivering early prototypes and development platforms,
• Produce and review engineering drawings, technical reports, meeting minutes and other project documentation
• Coordinate with the wider Engineering team to deliver a coherent design/platform
• Present engineering material to internal stakeholders and customers
• Requirements management and production of technical specifications
• Provide engineering input to project submissions including cost estimating, project plans, and progress reports
• Perform project activities as allocated by the Project Management team

To be a successful Software Engineer you will have:
• Previous experience in a similar role
• A Degree within a relevant engineering subject
• C++ Software Designer and Coder in MS Visual Studio
• C++ Design targeted to VxWorks and Linux
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplined, multi-site team.
• Experience developing systems and software using Rhapsody would be beneficial
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Auto test experience would be beneficial
