The Background
I am recruiting for a Project Accountant to join one of the UK’s leading defence companies on a contract basis to work with and assist the Project Finance Manager in the financial management and control of a large programme of multiple projects. In this role you will provide high quality financial support and advice to the Project and Management teams.
The Role
As a Project Accountant you will:
• Provide Project Accounting support, challenge and advice to the Project teams through active engagement in Bids, Project Risk reviews and Contract Reviews
• Compliance with all elements of the business processes and application of company Finance Policies and Financial Controls
• Assist CAMs and Project Managers in the production of robust cost estimates to complete and forecast updates.
• Completion of all weekly and monthly forecasting as required
• Analyse, review, challenge and advise on performance data; ensuring data integrity between the various systems
• Maintain and review the project Contract Status Reports and Summary Status Reports including relevant comments to aid management understanding of movements and variances
• Produce Project Cost Certificates and SSRO inputs as required and support their audits, investigating and resolving queries
• Diligently and accurately complete Financial Controls Framework Control Owner Self-Assessments
• Attend and contribute to project and functional meetings as appropriate
• Support the achievement of programme and functional quality targets

To be a successful Project Accountant you will have:
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Be a Part Qualified or Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills
• Strong Analytical Skills
• Be a competent user of MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint
• Ability to influence cross-functionally and across the project team
• Previous experience and knowledge of SAP would be beneficial
