Coatings Specialist (PR-12420432) Calgary Region, Canada
Progressive Global Energy is currently seeking a Sr. Coatings Specialist for a major pipeline operator based in Calgary, AB.
Responsibilities
- Providing Coating Engineering support to all pipeline and related facilities projects;
- Finding solutions on highly technical or urgent coatings issues while working within schedule and cost constraints;
- Work with industry organizations, code committees and task force to influence industry standards and regulations;
- Providing Coating Engineering support to energy and storage facilities;
- Developing and updating technical coating specifications;
- Providing technical/engineering support for the qualification of Coating suppliers and manufacturing facilities;
- Conducting engineering assessments on new and existing coating materials; manufacturing processes and related equipment;
- Reviewing and checking coating procedures, engineering design, and project drawings to ensure they conform to standards and specifications;
- Developing and implementing coating quality management processes and systems;
- Developing, implementing and maintaining the Company coating guidelines;
Qualifications and Education
- Expertise in coating products, performance and techniques in the energy industry as well as extensive practical experience in coating application and quality;
- Broad knowledge of the design, construction, and operation of oil and gas pipeline systems;
- Knowledgeable in the science and theory of coatings and coating performance for pipeline,power station and gas storage facilities in relation to design and maintenance activities;
- Working knowledge of Canadian, US and International codes and regulations and their requirements;
- Specialised knowledge with regards to coating materials, coating processes used in the mills, fabrication shops and in the field;
- Expertise in coating inspection and related training requirements;
- Familiarity with ISO quality management standards, or equivalent;
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Materials/Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering focused on above ground and below ground pipeline coating.
